Who we are
Hull Food Partnership is part of the UK Sustainable Food Places (SFP) network and works in collaboration with the city farm Rooted in Hull. By driving system change and working with the many local delivery projects already in place, Hull Food Partnership is developing a recognised strategic and collaborative approach to good food governance and action in the city.
About the post
Funding has been awarded to Hull Food Partnership by Sustainable Food Places and Hull City Council to create a Veg Cities Community Campaign Officer post in Hull with the aim of creating a joined-up approach to increasing the availability and consumption of vegetables and reduce food waste in Hull.
The main role of the Veg Cities Community Campaign Officer will be to build on and strengthen past work and be responsible for revitalising the Veg Cities Hull campaign which ran successfully from 2018-2020.
We require someone who will enthusiastically and actively engage with wide range of stakeholders of all ages and facilitate collaboration to develop a city-wide network of community growing projects.
You will not be afraid of getting your hands dirty to demonstrate good growing techniques and helping people on their first steps to growing, harvesting and cooking their own veg.
We are seeking a committed self-starter who is able to motivate individuals and organisations to get involved and bring their work to a wider audience using case studies and by developing resources.
This role will include working alongside the Hull Food Partnership Development Officer and Food Insecurity Officer in embedding this work in the Hull Food Strategy, Hull Food Poverty Action Plan and refreshing the Hull Food Action Plan and Hull Food Charter, ultimately gaining the Sustainable Food Places Silver Award.
We recommend applicants check the Veg Cities website and read the Veg Cities handbook for more detail on actions and case studies.
This post will be 15 hours per week, worked flexibly, initially for a fixed term of 12 months but may be extended subject to funding. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required, for which time off in lieu will be granted. A city centre office base is provided, though the role will also allow for some level of home working by agreement and will require travel across the city to different locations for stakeholder engagement.
Please see the Veg Cities Community Campaign Officer_Job Description Person Specification for further details about this role.
