Case Studies

To get you inspired we have visited some of Hull’s most dedicated growers to find out what makes them tick, their favourite growing methods, the challenges they have faced and how you can get involved.

Check back for more case studies soon!

Constable Street Community Allotment

From permaculture to pizza ovens, there is a lot going on in this half-acre site in the Boulevard area of Hull.

Photography shows a very large and lush tree next to some long grass in an outdoor space. Closer to the camera we can see a group of children sat at a table together. The scene is warm and peaceful.

Rooted in Hull urban farm

Established in 2014, Rooted in Hull was an idea of two friends to create a unique space in the City where people could celebrate the wide range of ways they enjoy food through growing and cooking.

EMS Ltd

Former Veg Cities Co-ordinator, John Pickles is now the Community Growing Co-ordinator at Environmental Management Solutions (EMS) Ltd, a charity founded in 2009. The charity’s mission is to work with residents and community groups ‘to alleviate food and fuel poverty’.

Rainbow Community Garden

Even a cold and drizzly winter's day couldn't dim the vibrant enthusiasm of everyone working at the bustling Rainbow Community Garden, tucked away in the North Hull Estate.
