Food Inequality Alliance
The Hull Food Inequality Alliance (HFIA) is a non-constituted group convened by Hull Food Partnership to share intelligence and challenges faced by organisations in Hull and the wider region in relation to supporting residents experiencing poverty and / or food insecurity.
Objectives:
- To provide a forum for organisations from all sectors across the city to discuss current issues that they are facing in relation to poverty and food insecurity, and what possible solutions or support is needed to address those issues.
- To increase opportunities for organisations to connect and work together outside of the HFIA with others who may be able to offer advice or support.
- To enable a feedback mechanism to the Financial Inclusion Network so that current issues are flagged at a strategic level locally.
- To engage with elected representatives regarding what is happening in relation to poverty and food insecurity across their wards/constituencies.
- To ensure continued engagement and drive towards delivering a city-wide Food Poverty Action Plan as part of the Hull Food Strategy.
- To keep HFIA members up to date on what initiatives are taking place locally and nationally in relation to mitigating the impacts of poverty and food insecurity.
- To share information about funding and associated opportunities that might benefit organisations working to alleviate poverty and food insecurity.
Activities:
In order to achieve the above objectives, the HFIA will:
- Convene regular HFIA meetings at an agreed frequency.
- Collect useful and regular data to enhance the objectives of the HFIA.
- Invite guest speakers to inform HFIA members of useful initiatives that may assist communities in mitigating the impacts of poverty and food insecurity.
- Instigate or participate in campaigning/lobbying activities to raise the issue of the negative impacts of poverty and food insecurity and what actions are needed to improve the lives of residents living in poverty or food insecurity.
